Bob Parsons’ hunting fee helped the economy there, one way or another, and helped local farmers eradicate a very destructive elephant.
The elephant also provided the villagers lots of good eating meat, although it was not enough to sustain the village.
These folks are very poor, can’t afford major crop loss, and could use the meat.
It’s either: save the elephant that continually destroys villager crops, resulting in famine, or save the crops and fatten up the villagers.
